Chicagos Lift Off Music Festival Abruptly Canceled After The First Day

CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) — Organizers for the Lift Off, a 2-day Latin music and culture festival which debuted in Chicago this past weekend, abruptly pulled the plug on the second day of the event.

In posts to the festival’s official web page and social media on Sunday, organizers announced that the second day was canceled and offered a full refund to ticketholders.

“All Sunday, August 12 activities, and performances for the second day of Lift Off Festival at Chicago’s Union Park have been canceled,” a spokesperson for the festival posted to the festival’s Instagram page.

Organizers for the fest did not offer a reason for the cancellation but according to the festival’s social media, artists who had been booked for the festival, including Yandel, had been quietly removed from Sunday’s lineup.

As well, many fans complained via Instagram that crowds at the Union Park festival site on Saturday were thin. Other commentators noted that the festival appears to have been poorly publicized and complained about organizational issues at the event.

Artists who were still listed on the bill for Sunday when word came down that it had been canceled included headliners Reik and Lenin Ramirez, as well as Adriel Favela, Sofia Reyes, Alex Sensation, Nio Garcia, Casper Magico, Justin Quiles, Jon Z, Malu Trevejo, Brytiago, Rauw, Alejandro, Rafa Pabón, Lupita, Infante, and Yexian.

We reached out to the festival’s organizers for comment about the cancellation but they did not respond at the time of publication.
