I love a man who loves a strong woman and who doesn’t need to have their ego stroked every five seconds. Such is the case for James Brolin, who has been married to Barbra Streisand for twenty-three years. James appeared on The Talk last week. He told Sheryl Underwood that while lockdown destroyed many marriages it did the reverse for him and Barbra. He and Barbra have fallen deeper in love with each other. James said that one of the keys is that they never walk out during an argument and always talk it out. We can definitely learn from these two. Below are a few more highlights via People:

“I like women who say their peace, and I’m a calming factor, and she gets me up and doing things I wouldn’t normally accomplish. It’s like a perfect situation, the two of us,” he told co-host Sheryl Underwood.

“We, for a long time, were put out by COVID. And a lot of people, their marriages haven’t gone well during these 15 months,” he continued. “We’ve literally fallen in love over this period of time, just being stuck together every day and making it work.”

Continuing, he added, “Neither one of us have ever gone out the door [after] an argument and we are good at talking things out. And 23 years is better than ever, I must say.”

The legendary singer married the Westworld actor on July 1, 1998 – two years after the pair were set up on a blind date.

“I met him at a dinner and expected a bearded mountain-man type, and he had cut off all his hair and was clean-shaven,” Streisand previously told W Magazine. “I asked him, ‘Who screwed up your hair?’ ”

“He later told me that’s when he fell in love with me,” she added. “My fella likes to hear the truth, which is unusual.”

I absolutely love James and Barbra’s relationship. I didn’t know they were set up on a blind date. And I find it so cute that Barbra explained that James fell in love with her when she asked him who messed up his hair. I love how James said that lockdown has made them grow closer and more in love. The fact that they have have decided to work through their rough patches versus giving up is a testament to their connection. James encourages Barbra to just be her wonderful self.

Anyways, I love love and I love the fact that these two met later in life. Barbra, 79, and James, 80, met twenty five years ago so they would have been 54 and 55 respectively. I wish them love and more growth in their relationship. Life is too short to not be with the one you want to be with.
