Marilyn Manson Cuts Performance Short Because Of Food Poisoning (Or Possibly Holy Communion)
THE WOODLANDS, Texas (CelebrityAccess) Marilyn Manson, touring with Rob Zombie, cut short his performance at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas, after collapsing onstage Aug. 18.
Photographers were escorted away from the pit prior to the performance, with the tour manager telling them that Manson was feeling very ill and did not want his picture taken, according to the Houston Press. His performance, however, got a stellar review.
The newspaper’s Jack Gorman said Manson “absolutely gave it his all … shouting his lungs out” and, although there were “very long breaks between songs with the stage blacked out,” the rocker proved he was more than human by “coming out and giving literally everything his body could muster,” visibly shaking at times as he held on to the microphone stand.
However, after the song “Sweet Dreams,” Manson collapsed on top of one of the monitors while the stagehands “could be seen on the side of the stage worriedly contemplating on whether or not to assist him.”
Apparently a rumor floated around that the illness was caused by Manson taking holy communion earlier that day for the first time in 30 years but the backstage talk was that the singer had a terrible case of food poisoning.
The next stop for the Twins of Evil tour is Mattress Firm Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, Calif., this Friday, Aug. 26.
