RCA Records has tapped Archie Davis to serve as Senior Vice President of Marketing at the label. In addition to his new role at RCA, Davis also launched a new joint venture with the label entitled Six Course Music Group.
At RCA, Davis will oversee marketing campaigns for the label’s artists and will serve as CEO of Six Course Inc., a creative agency and production company that will seek to drive consumer engagement.
Six Course will also serve as an A&R platform, where Davis will discover, sign and develop artists under the Six Course Music Group/RCA Records imprint.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join RCA and to bring a home to Six Course Music Group. The incredible staff of executives and artists at RCA have been leading the way, shaping culture at every turn with their mix of established stars and developing new, cutting-edge talent. Alongside Peter Edge and John Fleckenstein, I look forward to the label being a destination where all parts of entertainment come together authentically to have the biggest impact and as a place where artists are comfortable and happy to call RCA their home,” Davis said.
A veteran of the marketing world, Davis and his Six Course team have created campaigns for brands that include Wendy’s which broke new ground for the quick service restaurant business with a 5-track mixtape titled “We Beefin?.”
The project has won an impressive stack of awards — nine Cannes Lions awards and four Clio awards including a Grand Prix. As well, the mixtape project became a charting hit on iTunes.
Prior to joining RCA, Davis was SVP of Urban Marketing at Interscope Records where he oversaw campaigns for Top Dawg Entertainment’s Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Eardrummers, Rae Sremmurd, Mike Will Made-it, Rich The Kid as well as the Black Panther soundtrack.
Davis joined Interscope through their college marketing program in 2008. He also helped pioneer the OPM Company alongside Dom Kennedy.
Davis sits on the board of advisors for Dreamhaus, a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization aimed at fostering the use of arts as an educational tool and providing a career path into careers in the arts world.
