Selena Gomez in Bathing Suit is a "Bestie" Celebwell
Selena Gomez is celebrating her friends and living her best life during week-long Independence Day celebrations. The 30-year-old singer and business mogul shared lots of heart warming pictures on her social media of herself hanging out with loved ones, including BFF Taylor Swift. She also shared a sweet picture of herself wearing a brown one-piece swimsuit, cuddling with a friend. "Sometimes you need to be around empowering, kind and kick ass gals. I needed that," Gomez says. "Who else wants Selena Gomez for a bestie?" commented a fan. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Gomez stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
Gomez works out with trainer Amy Rosoff Davis who makes sure the singer is on track with her diet and exercise. "I made sure the dressing room always had veggies and protein and brown rice or whole grains," Davis says. "I made a lot of rice bowls with veggies, protein, and avocado for Selena. It helped give her energy and stamina, which she needed to get through her shows. I also made healthy chicken salad with grapes and celery—it quenched her thirst and the protein filled her up. We always drank lots of water and had green tea when we needed a pick me up—it sure was exhausting at times."
Gomez enjoys a variety of different workouts and exercises, Davis says. "[We focus on] interval and circuit training—and building a strong core. My whole thing is toning mixed with cardio and stretching, to keep the body rejuvenated and challenged. [Selena and I] do everything from Pilates to hiking to dance cardio to circuit training to yoga and Spinning—the list goes on."
Gomez is a big fan of boxing workouts for both the physical and mental health benefits. "I like to give myself an hour to wake up and have my coffee," she says. "Then I go to boxing, which has completely changed my life and body. It clears my head and helps me let go of stuff. I like to wash my face with the Tatcha cleanser and then use the moisturizer. Sometimes I'll do a mask, like the SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Masque or one for my hair from K18, which makes me feel like a grown woman. I love a five-minute cold shower to reset my mind."
Gomez focuses on much-needed self-care when necessary. "I like to be alone for a second – whatever I'm feeling, I need to take a second to process it," she says. "I try my hardest to take a few breaths. I also love food – eating something cozy and then getting in my cozy sweats and allowing myself to have some me time."
Gomez swears by regular therapy sessions to help support her mental health. "I'm a big believer in therapy, and I always feel so confident when I'm taking care of myself," she says. "If I'm not in the best headspace and my friends invite me out, I won't go. I've lost my sense of FOMO, which I'm proud of. Sometimes I push myself too much, and it catches up to me. But I try to balance out everything as best as I can. I like to be there for my friends and celebrate everyone. But I have to make sure that I'm OK, you know? Because if I'm not OK, I can't be OK for other people."
