Tochi Wigwe (born September 12, 1997) is a Nigerian economist and finance manager. She is a successful finance professional who plays an active role in the Middle-East Finance Market. 

Tochi Wigwe is the second child and first daughter of Late Herbert Wigwe, former Group CEO and Co-founder of Access Bank and Chizoba Wigwe, a Nigerian entrepreneur.

Early Life 

Tochi Wigwe was born on September 12, 1997 to the illustrious Wigwe family of Rivers State. She was born at a leading private hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos State. She is a born Nigerian from Isiokpo, Ikwerre, Rivers State. 

Tochi‘s parents are Herbert Wigwe and Doreen Chizoba Wigwe. Her father, Herbert, was a Co-Founder and Former Group CEO of Access Bank. Her mother, Doreen, was a successful Lawyer and CEO of Craneburg Construction LTD.

Tochi Wigwe is the second child and first daughter of the Wigwe family. She has three siblings – an older brother named Chizi Wigwe, a younger brother named David Wigwe, and a younger sister named Hannah Wigwe

Tochi spent her formative years in a highbrow neighbourhood in Victoria Island, Lagos State. However, she and her siblings often spent their holidays overseas, visiting new countries and cities. She was raised in the Christian faith and attended a Pentecostal Church. Like her parents, Tochi is a devout member of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Education

Tochi Wigwe attended Jephthah Comprehensive Secondary School for her high school education. She completed her O’Levels at the school in 2011. She then underwent her A’Levels at Global International College, completing them in 2012.

She studied at the University of Nottingham for her undergraduate degree. In 2016, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. For her postgraduate studies, Tochi Wigwe bagged a Master’s degree in Investment and Finance from Queen Mary University of London in 2019. 

Career 

Since her teenage years, Tochi Wigwe harboured a deep passion for the finance industry, a trait she shared with her father, Herbert, and elder brother, Chizi Wigwe. Inspired by her family’s background, Tochi chose to pursue a career in finance, starting with a degree in Economics followed by a Master’s in Investment and Finance.

Tochi‘s career journey began during her undergraduate studies when she secured a Research Analyst position at the Agricultural Society at the University of Nottingham in 2014. Excelling in this role, she was later appointed Treasurer of the society. Subsequently, she gained experience as a Sales Personnel Intern at Champions Life Academy, Essex, United Kingdom, in 2015.

From September 2015 to April 2016, Tochi Wigwe worked as a Star Trainer at the University of Nottingham before transitioning to a Fashion Intern role at Deola Sagoe Limited in 2016. Following this, she spent 21 months as a Financial Reporting Analyst at Access Bank Plc from 2017 to 2018, gaining valuable insights into financial operations.

In 2019, Tochi Wigwe briefly worked in the Client Services department at Starling Bank before joining Procter & Gamble (P&G) in September 2019. Starting in the Regional Finance department, she quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to the Commercial Finance department within a year. Currently, Tochi thrives in her role in Product Supply Finance at P&G, aiming to become one of Africa’s leading Financial Managers.

In the wake of her family’s tragedy, Tochi took a hiatus from her professional life to focus on mourning and caring for her siblings. Currently residing in their family mansion in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Tochi Wigwe navigates the challenges of grief while holding her family close as they mourn their profound loss.
